The water line is one of the essential parts of your home’s plumbing system. Without it, you don’t have freshwater coming in from the municipal system and to your faucets and appliances. Water lines are built to last for decades, but they’re still susceptible to damage from a number of sources. One of them is from tree roots that burrow down into the pipe, leading to blocking the line or causing it to break.
Tree Roots vs. Your Water Line
If you have trees on your property, or bushes with deep roots, your water line (as well as your sewer line) can be in danger from them. Roots naturally move toward sources of water and warmth, such as a water line. The slow growth of the roots is enough to infiltrate the pipe at connecting points. The growth will first start to impede water flow through the pipeline, and eventually the force of the growth will cause it to crack and break.
When you begin to see a drop in water pressure around your house, or you notice water pooling on your yard where it shouldn’t be, tree root damage to the water line is a possibility. Call our plumbers right away.
How We Can Help You
The tree root problem is a common one, and we’re used to handling the work to take care of it. When you suspect that you have tree root infiltration blocking or damaging your water line, we’ll first use video camera equipment to inspect the line from the inside and identify if this is indeed the problem. After that, we’ll use special snaking technology to clear the line of the roots. If it’s necessary to repair the line—or even replace it—we’ll use trenchless technology to handle the work without needing to tear up your property.
