Is It Time for a New Water Heater?

water-is-too-coldWe know you have plenty to do to prepare for the fast-approaching holiday season. We aren’t here to add to your already full plate. However, we do want to pose a question in order to help you tackle a task that you might not realize needs doing.

Is your water heater going to make it through the holidays?

If you hesitate when you answer that question, you may want to consider looking into finding a replacement sooner than later. When it comes to water heaters in Ontario, CA, we know every drop that you use counts, so having an ineffective system is never good. If you need a replacement, you may want to reach out to a professional for assistance with everything from selection to installation.

But first, let’s discuss how you can be sure that you need a new water heater.

No one wants to have their hot water disappear when they have family staying over for the weekend or they are hosting a dinner. Making sure that your hot water heater will be operating at peak efficiency helps reduce the risk of this happening, especially if you have a brand-new system.

Replacing your water heater is a big decision though so you probably want to be sure that the time has come to take that jump. Here are a few ways you can tell you need to start the hunt for a new water heater.

You Should Replace Your Water Heater When…

It Springs a Leak: If you see that your hot water heater has a leak, you have to replace it ASAP. At this point, the unit is no longer salvageable.

It Can No Longer Produce Hot Water: The whole point of a water heater is that it heats your water. When it loses the ability to do this, no matter how many times you get it repaired, this means you need a new unit.

It is Increasing Already High Utility Costs: When your energy bill gets higher and higher every month, this may indicate that your water heater is using more energy than normal to produce the usual amount of hot water. This isn’t a good thing!

It is 10 Years or Older: The older your unit is the less efficient it is likely to be. When the system goes beyond 10 years of service it is likely it needs to be replaced soon before the costs to repair and operate this system become too high.

You Need Repairs Twice a Year or More: How many times this year have you had to get your water heater repaired? If the answer is two or more, you absolutely need to invest in a new system as your current water heater is getting ready to kick the bucket.
